Heart Month

I figured this post would be fitting to start off the month of love. You'll see why in a little bit.

I wore this dress to Richard and Raymond's 29th birthday bash at Cabana but now I'm wishing I wore it for Valentine's Day.
Call me cheesy, but I love the feminine draping up top and how the length of the peplum just covers my 'Shakira hips' - don't ask.
The hearts around the neckline, though, are what really makes this dress Valentine material. Well, that's for those who'd like to take the day as literal as me.Seeing as how the dress is already so feminine, I wanted to balance it off with edgier pieces from Saute n Style.I think the unexpected twist of skulls, spikes, and an ear cuff gave this look more of an attitude.
If you'd like to go for a classier look, you can pair this dress with a nice, structured black blazer.
Also, since the dress is already a statement on it's own, you can choose to just pair it with some earrings and a bracelet.

To find out where you can find this dress, and many other options for all your events and dates this month, check out Click Online Boutique. I think this one is next on my list.

A big thank you to Lilet for this lovely dress and another stunner that I wore to Laneway.

I had been saving this outfit for quite some time now as I knew this was exactly what I wanted to wear to Laneway in Singapore. Since music festivals are natural breeding grounds for self-expression, I figured this was one of the few instances I could get away with this retro look. If I wore something this revealing around Metro Manila, I would definitely be getting some unwanted attention.
I also knew I wanted to be carefree and be ready to brave the crowds gathering to see their favorite performers, so sneakers were a must.
If you wanna try this look but aren't so sure of how much skin you wanna show, you can un-tie the knot I went for and just tuck-in any sleeves top with your high-waisted shorts. Allot 5 minutes to tie your hair in a quick & easy bun, and put on some red lipstick and shades and you're good to go!

Playing Tourist

On our last day in Singapore, I wanted to go check out Sentosa park, the cable cars, and whatever else last-minute shopping I needed to get done. That meant a lot of walking and very little down time. So I needed to wear something I could easily move around in and not have to think about all day.
Good thing I packed these shorts and shirt as a back up 'cause all my other outfits were too constricting.

These were taken right before I got on the mono-rail to take me to Sentosa Park. Am I touristy enough? lol.

If you noticed, in all my Singapore pics, I'm only wearing one pari of sneakers. That's because I'm trying to train myself to pack light for all my other future trips. Well, I actually did bring a pair of heel but they never even left the suitcase.

Blonde Ambition

Do blondes really have more fun?

We've all heard the saying but I guess you never really know until you experience it for yourself. So last week, I took the plunge. I headed over to Envy Me salon in Robinsons Galleria mall as a brunette and came home a blonde - much to everyone's surprise.
I initially wanted to go full on "ginger" (red head) but after some convincing, the lead hair stylist said I should try going blonde first then slowly make my way to being a red head. Bleaching my hair was the scariest process 'cause I always hear how bleach kills your hair but good thing Envy Me salon offered a treatment called the Brazilian Blowout that coats each strand with keratin, making it much stronger and healthier.
I think my hair will forever be damaged from all the coloring I've done through the years but I really noticed the change in my hair after doing this. After every shower, my hair is much smoother and shinier than what it used to be. The effects lasts a few weeks but I think it's definitely worth it especially if you'll be 'killing' your hair with bleach, like I did. ;)
After some bleach, a mani-pedi, and 3 hours passing by of pure 'chikahan', I was officially a blonde.

It's only been a week but I have noticed a few changes now that I'm blonde...

1. It's a great conversation starter - everyone always wants to know all about the big change - why I did it and where I did and I am very happy to oblige.

2. Lighter features - If you have strong, dark features (like I do), lightening your hair might be a pleasant change. You'll notice that it softens your features and, in my case, makes you look less 'mataray'. I'm generally quite friendly. So knowing that I look more approachable now is quite a relief.

3. More fun? - I don't know if I'm having more fun per se, now that I'm blonde, but I do feel more liberated and open to new experiences. It's one more thing I can say that I've done and cross off my 'kikay' list. So maybe blondes don't really have more fun but it's definitely a fun thing to try.

Go visit Envy Me Salon in Robinsons Galleria West Wing and check out the cool, new, super chic salon hidden in the 3rd floor. It's definitely affordable and the staff is very friendly. Go with your girlfriends and make a day out if! You can both get make-overs and then go shopping or eat out in the mall afterwards. We all deserve a little pampering from time to time.
You can also call them at (02) 576-4716.

It's all about having fun. So try something new for a change! Good luck, ladies!

Take Me Away

Really been feeling the urge to want to get away again lately and these photos are not helping.
I miss the beach so much! These were taken last month on my last day in Bohol (Alona beach).
Thank God we're set for a weekend getaway this Thursday for Nivea.
I can not wait.
Ignore the sunburn. I don't tan very well. :( Must be the Scandinavian blood in me.
These were literally taken after three days of attempting to get tan.

Oh well. I guess I'll just have to try again this weekend.
This is what really happens during my outfit shots. First, I'm awkward then I'm distracted. Then, I'm shy. Then, finally, I'm goofy. No fail.

So being able to wear something as easy to slip on as this dress life so much easier. I was literally ready in less than five minutes!

Keep Calm and Hippie On

"Keep Calm and Hippie On" - words I found on a sign at yesterday's Close Up Summer Solstice launch. Seemed fitting for my outfit of the day.
Mike saw me and said "Wow. Kuma-Katy Perry." Not sure if he meant it as a compliment but I'll take it as one.
I have been waiting to have an excuse to finally wear this headband of mine. So when I got the memo saying we had to be dressed in music festival attire, I knew that was it! haha!
Being that I can never leave the house without my entire closet and toiletry kit, I always need a bag that can fit all that.
This See by Chloe bag is just the perfect size to be my go-to, everyday bag.
Also had to take a picture of this cute new shade from Kryolan. Can't remember the name but when I do, I'll post it. These heels were a gift from CMG a few months ago and I really love them. I go from being 5'5" to 5'9" in just 2 seconds.
Much thanks to my impromptu photographer for the day, Carla Humphries. She has really come a long way in her photography skills! lol! Love you, Madz!

The Boyfriend Jacket

I used to love raiding my mom and gnadma's closets cause I would find the best pieces but only recently did I discover the beauty in raiding your boyfriend's closet as well! haha!
This Wrangler jacket is really made for men but I loved the military green so much that I just had to borrow it and make it work.
I wore this to run around town for all my errands and meetings so I still wanted to look professional and presentable but still keep my own edge.
I don't think my boyfriend even knows I borrowed this but he's about to find out! lol.
Don't worry, though, ladies! You don't need a man to get this perk...
You can also just broaden your 'shopping horizons' by also shopping in the men's sections of all your favorite stores! You'll never know what you just might find.
Don't forget to tweet me (@nicoleandersson) if you find any good finds / stores that you think I should check out ;)

Runaround Sue- A popular hit from the 50s about a fickle lover.
My interpretation- Running around town like a headless chicken in a dress inspired by the 50s.
Close enough? I think so.
I've seen this dress on my good friend, Madz (Carla Humphries), a couple of times already and every time I see her wear it, I drool.
So I finally got her to lend it to me last week and you can imagine how excited I was. haha!
It's no ball gown or anything crazy fancy but it's just perfect in it's simplicity.
I thought it would be fitting to wear the dress during the MAC Archie's Girls' launch too.
I just wish I had more dresses like this. I'd definitely live in them.
If anyone knows any online stores that sell more dresses like this, let me know in the comments below! I'd love to check them out.

My Mumi

(Sunnies by Charlie, Cocobelle top, skirt from San Francisco, Mumi Phoebe bag, Chanel scarf, Cartier watch, @Bellevous bracelets, Because I Like It flats)
Last week, I got this purple bag from Mumi that reminded me of my Vuitton Never Full because of the size. It was great for this day full of errands and driving around back and forth from North to South. I like it because I can literally just throw everything in it and run out the door.
Because the bag is quite simple, I opted to throw on my Chanel scarf to give it a little bit more character and make it more 'me', if you will. That's actually a good trick to liven up all your old bags that you haven't used in a while!
TIP: Try playing around with your scarves and bags to see how you can give more personality to your purses.
What do you think? Check out their page for more designs and leave a comment below. You can also tweet me your versions of how you styled your bags this week!
Happy Sunday everyone!

I think this was the start of Manila's gloomy, unpredictable weather. I saw that it was raining on my way to host another event so I wanted to keep it simple with just a pair of jeans and a jacket for when I got cold.
This is my first time trying the denim on denim look and I quite liked it. It reminded me of the days my mom used to dress me up in denim everything and I'd walk around like a little 'G'. haha! Obviously, that's not the case anymore but it's a funny memory to think about.

Here's a back blog from when I hosted the launch of Magnum's 2 new flavors in URBN last month.
It was quite fun to be surrounded by friends and LOTS and LOTS of belgian chocolate. I, being the little horder that I am, even took a whole bunch home 'cause I couldn't really scarf my face with chocolate while I was on the job. lol! Sorry for some photos being blurry! I can't quite remember why but oh well...

A lot of you would agree with the title of this post. Lately, this summer heat has been crazy and, if I had the choice, I'd just be chillin' by the pool all day. Unfortunately, I can't get away with doing that. So on days like these, a loose, sheer top and shorts help get me through the day.
Since I couldn't be in the beach, I just went for the ocean-like print this shirt had to offer and just went with the bohemian vibe.
Wearing tons of accessories in this heat can get quite annoying at times so keeping them to a minimum would be idea. For this look, a necklace and wooden bangle were enough for me.
My 'go to',  khaki shorts from Wrangler.
I also don't usually keep my hair down. I'm always doing something so keeping a ponytail in my pocket or on my wrist makes it easy to put my hair up whenever I want.
Borrowed these heels from my mum! Wanted that extra pop of color to liven up the whole look.

Denim Spa Giveaway

Denim Spa

So you've probably heard by now that Wrangler just came out with this new line called Denim Spa where their jeans can either moisturize you or reduce the appearance of cellulite. Pretty cool huh? Well, I got myself a pair and wore them to the launch last week. I've only wore them once so I can't really tell if anything happened yet but what I did notice instantly was how comfy they are as compared to all my other jeans. I'm wearing the anti-cellulite ones here. Maybe I'll have to wear them a few more times 'til I notice any big changes.
