January 11, 2013 - January 14, 2013
Bohol, Philippines
Three days off the grid right after all the holiday shindigs. A holiday from my holiday. Just as I've done before, I booked a ticket - no plans, no schedules.
While staying in a quaint little resort along the stretch of Alona beach, I took the liberty of renting a motorcycle to take me on a four-hour ride by the sea and along the countryside. I've never really done anything like that before. Though I've never really been a motorcycle fan, I must admit it felt so liberating to feel the wind in my hair. The ride was a good alterative to the other group tours the island offered. I was on no-one's time but my own. I could go as slow or fast as I wanted and didn't have anyone to wait for. I was going to see Bohol's wonders on my own terms.
This island is really blessed with some pretty awesome treasures. From the tarsiers and dolphins to the Chocolate hills and white sand beaches, Bohol offers it's visitors a beautiful escape from the proverbial concrete jungles most of us live in. The island reminds me of a Boracay I once knew, before all the multi-national establishments. Three days was definitely not enough to experience all that Bohol had to offer, but it was just enough time to get my needed dose of island living.

If ever you plan on visiting this island any time soon, here are a few things to go see / try on your trip:
Dolphin watching & island hopping
Snorkeling
Visit a tarsier sanctuary
Check out the Chocolate Hills
Try the 'kalamay' & peanut kisses
Have lunch on a river boat cruise
