I bet when I say 'Ponti', for a lot of you, this image comes to mind.
That's because we all know 'Ponti' as the famous Makati night spot that it is, but did you guys know that they also served good Italian food? Well, if you haven't, don't worry. You're just like me.
I was baffled to get an invite to the first ever Monday night "Date Nights" at Il Ponticello - that's it's real name, by the way. I immediately had to see what's up.
The moment I walked in the door, I was pleasantly surprised by the difference in ambiance than what I had in mind. The lighting and music were both perfectly set for a romantic evening for two. Just as the name would have you expect. Good thing I came with friends!
Though this is the perfect setting to bring a date to, that doesn't mean you and your friends can't go as a group. Better yet, if you have a group of couples, then that might be the ideal situation as you can all share the delicious food but still be romantic with your significant other.
And since this is a dining experience, what would it be without good food?
Just to give you an idea, here are some of my favorites of the things we tried:
Mozarella con Carozza
Mozarella pillows and zucchini with kalamata-pomodoro salsa
I'm not usually a fan of cheese sticks but I think what makes this dish so awesome is the salsa that comes with it. it was so good I ended up putting it on my pizaa, bread, and anything else I could get my hands on.
Tagliolini con Le Capesante
Fresh scallops and shrimp in seafood cream sauce served on fresh tagliolini pasta
I honestly had no idea how or why this pasta was green but it didn't matter 'cause once I took a bite I didn't care if it was purple! Aesthetically, it went well with the entire presentation and it tasted even better.
Al Quattro Formaggio
Four cheeses pizza
Here's another one that blew my mind- the pizza. Ask any of my friends and they will tell you I'm not the biggest pizza fan but if something was to change my mind, this could be it. It may have been the blue cheese surprise that sold me or the freshness of the tomatoes. Whatever it was, I'm coming back for more.

What's another 300 calories after the amazing meal I just had? I really hope my personal trainer doesn't read this 'cause he's gonna make do 500 more sit-ups just from looking at these photos! I mean, just look at how the chocolate drips off the top of that cake. Who wouldn't give into that? Needless to say, I did and boy was I a happy camper that night.
I think I may be changing my cheat days from Sundays to Mondays just so I can time it perfectly with Monday night "Date Nights" at Il Ponticello.
